Can my child come to the pool alone?

Children aged 10 to 13 may be allowed to visit the pool without an adult if they pass the required annual swim test, often referred to as the “patch test” and submit a signed permission form from a parent or guardian. This form will be kept on file.

Please note:

  • The swim test must be taken every year. Past swim tests will not carry over.
  • A guardian must be present at the time of the swim test to sign the required form.
  • Children under 14 who have not passed the swim test must be accompanied by someone age 14 or older while at the pool.

The swim test includes:

  • Swimming two lengths of the pool without stopping
  • Floating for two minutes
  • Treading water for two minutes

If you are interested in having your child take the swim test, please inquire with the lifeguard on duty.
